Intro to Tactical Rifle
Whether you’re new to tactical rifles or an experienced shooter looking to revisit and refine your fundamentals, the Intro to Tactical Rifle course is designed to build safe, effective, and confident rifle skills.
This full-day training class focuses on the core principles of modern tactical rifle use, making it ideal for new rifle owners, those who have not received professional instruction, and advanced shooters who want to reacquaint themselves with rifle fundamentals in a structured training environment. No prior training is required.
What You Will Learn
Students will receive hands-on instruction covering:
- Safe handling and operation of a tactical rifle
- Rifle parts and terminology (nomenclature)
- Proper loading and unloading procedures
- Marksmanship fundamentals
- Zeroing a rifle correctly
- Sling setup and effective sling use
- Shooting positions (standing, kneeling, prone)
- Diagnosing and correcting common rifle shooting errors
- Basic rifle cleaning and maintenance
- California-specific firearm laws, including:
- Legal ownership
- Transportation and storage requirements
- Defensive use considerations
The emphasis on fundamentals makes this course valuable not only for beginners, but also for experienced shooters looking to strengthen efficiency, consistency, and performance.
Rifles & Equipment
Students are encouraged to bring their own rifle and supporting gear.
If you do not own a rifle but would still like to attend, a limited number of rifles and ammunition are available for rent for a small additional fee. Please contact us early to reserve a rental rifle.
Schedule
- Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Please bring a packed lunch and water. A short break will be taken during the day.
What to Bring
Required:
- Packed lunch and water
- Tactical rifle with iron sights or optic
- Three magazines
- 200 rounds of ammunition
- Adjustable rifle sling (Hefty Arms Nemesis Sling recommended)
- Belt-mounted rifle magazine pouch
- Rifle cleaning kit
- Baseball-style cap
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Long-sleeved shirt or jacket (recommended for prone shooting)
- Closed-toe shoes
- No low-cut tops (for safety during live-fire exercises)
